The English Coyote Online

Hello and welcome to The English Coyote designed by me Lyndsey Whittle. I have been teaching English (ESL) since 2012, so I created The English Coyote because I know that learning English as a second language is bigger than ever. Learning English is important and people all over the world decide to study it as a second language. Many countries include English as a second language in their school syllabus and children start learning English at a young age.

The best thing about learning English online is that you can:
  1. Learn from the comfort of your own home.
  2. Choose a day and time that works around you.
  3. Have 1-1 classes with a native teacher.
  4. Create the class to suit your needs.

What makes you a good teacher?

I know from personal experience due to living in Spain that learning another language is not that easy and I understand the importance to be patient and reassuring. I am not the type of teacher that keeps stopping you when you make a mistake or is so serious. I like to make my classes fun and interesting and for me and not take myself too seriously. I wait until the student has stopped speaking before I address their mistakes and if I notice a similar pattern, for example, I know prepositions and phrasal verbs are very difficult for Spanish learners I then concentrate on the things they need to improve on.

I believe that to be a good teacher you need to be passionate about what you do and it's so rewarding when I see a positive outcome.

I proofread a minimum of 3 A4 pages so for 3 pages it costs between £8-£10 depending on your level and if a lot of changes need to be made.
I normally get asked to proofread writing exam papers or cover letters for a job, but if you have anything else then get in touch or email them over theenglishcoyote@gmail.com

Classes in person

I do classes in person but mostly in my hometown, and the classes are a minimum of 1.5 hours and a maximum of 2 hours. I can teach 1-1 or small groups and the best venue to do this would be in a library or a cafe. If you are based elsewhere and would like classes in person then please get in touch and I will try and arrange something if possible.

Typical Questions

How do I pay for the classes?

Paypal is the safest and easiest option that doesn't deduct a lot of money to send. For every £10 it will take around 90p off.
If you are based in Spain or England there are other options available.

What is the free trial?

So I always offer a free trial because I want to check that everything works correctly, I can see and hear you and there's a stable connection. I can also assess your level by doing this or find out what exactly you are looking for.

Can you teach more than 1 online?

Yes, now many academies are doing this with a microphone in the middle of the table for all the students to speak into, while the screen is attached to the laptop so everyone can see.
On Zoom you can now teach multiple students.

How many lessons do I need before I can take my exam?

I can’t answer that, I need to see proof that you are passing your test and that you are making obvious progress. If you are scoring above average on all your tests then go ahead and make a date for your official exam.

How can I improve my listening?

A lot of my previous students have told me by watching films with their language as subtitles helps a lot. I know some countries dub the original language out and have voice overs, this is the worst way to learn English.
Do online listening tests, listen to songs and the more and more you listen to better you will become.

What's the youngest age you can teach?

The youngest I have ever taught was 4 years old in Spain but on Skype I refuse to teach any younger than 7 years old and they have to have an interest in learning English.

How do you keep the classes fun and interesting for children?

I tend to use a study book based on their level and I like to spend the last 10/15 minutes either reading an online digital book or to play a game based around grammar and vocabulary.
